Festival Guidelines, services and fire safety

Gathering guidelines

FreeFlow is all about creating a family-friendly community of collaboration, and participation where everyone feels safe to be themselves and express themselves. To achieve this, we ask that you follow these guidelines:

Communal Effort

Our community values creative cooperation, collaboration and sharing. We strive to produce & encourage social networks, public spaces, works of art, and methods of communication that support such acts.

Clean up

Free Flow works with the environment. We are committed to leaving no trace wherever we gather. We clean up after ourselves and whenever possible, to leave such places in a better state than when we found them.

Free flow encourages acts of gift giving. The value of a gift is unconditional. Gifting does not require a return or an exchange of anything except positive energy.

All Inclusive

Anyone may be a part of Free Flow. We welcome and respect everybody. No prerequisites exist for participation in our community.

We ask that everyone who joins the gathering find at least one slot of volunteer activity you feel you can contribute to the event over the course of your stay. It is all of us working together that makes this event happen and keeps the price low.

Consent is to be given in all circumstances so everyone can feel safe and free to express themselves naturally. This means simply not assuming anything is ok without asking. And it results in everyone naturally being exactly who they are deep down!

Self-expression comes from the unique gifts of the individual. No one other than the individual or a collaborating group can determine what it involves. It is offered to others. In this spirit, the giver should always respect the rights and liberties of others.

Fire Safety

Campfires are not permitted, but fire pits & bon fires will be available for everyone to share. All fire play will have designated, trained, fire monitors at all times, please respect their suggestions.

Medical & healing services Onsite medical as well as a safe space for people to retreat to or relax in. Massage therapists and energy workers will also be available at the healing station on donation.
Fire services Each burn will have a 20L drum of water and a fire extinguisher next to it for emergency purposes. If u see anything unsafe please let the staff know and do your part to keep the gathering safe.

Fire Space

A Fire-Space is a dance floor for Fire-dancers to practice & perform with their flames. Since the beginning of time, campfires have brought about social contact and inner peace among humans. What happens when WE are the fire? Everyone becomes a single spark and together our energy will soar!

Try it, its primitive, collaborative… its addictive!
Our fire space is split into four areas:
- a big area for fire spinning
- an area for prop storage
- an area for preparing your props
- another area for extinguishing your props

A functioning fire space requires a good/safe dipping station, which is actively looked after at all times.

The dipping station should be in view of the fire space at all times, to have a better overview about how many are spinning at the same time, if there is space left for more and to be able to raise the awareness of all involved.

People in charge (Standard is 3 trained volunteers):
1 at the dipping station
1 safety around the fire space (with fire blankets & fire extinguishers)
1 spare volunteer (for communication between players & DJs, dipping station & fire space)

All volunteers will have the proper safety equipment (fire extinguishers, fire blanket & first-aid-kit). All volunteers will attended a fire safety workshop and know how to react to physical injuries.
